The American Girl Fan Message Board was created to provide a fun, safe, positive, kind, friendly, welcoming, and encouraging atmosphere for girls of all ages to come and talk about American Girl and their dolls together.
We like to try to keep things simple here, but, like any community, it would fail without rules to protect all of the hard work we put into making this message board a fun place to be. We will not throw you out if you break a rule, as we realize everyone makes mistakes. We will give you a warning notice that you have broken a rule and either correct it for you or give you the chance to correct it yourself, depending on the type of rule you have broken. Though, if you continually break a rule, or ignore warnings, it will result in you being banned from the board.
Rules are strict and we will enforce them. We have the right to ban any guest or member that violate these rules or does anything else we feel is inappropriate for this board. Also, we have the right to delete any topics or replies that violate these rules, or as we feel is necessary.
These rules are here to help ensure that everyone has a fun, safe, enjoyable place to meet and talk about American Girl dolls and are subject to change as needed.
Rules
- Anyone under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian before posting on this message board. You must be a girl to chat here.
- No use of curse words. Any use of bad and inappropriate language results in being banned from the board.
- You can only have 2 pictures in your signature, and no bigger than 500 pixels wide. Large pictures take up a lot of space and cause the pages to load slowly. If you need help sizing, just contact Liz by Private Message or email.
- Be kind and respectful to everyone. Mean or rude comments will not be tolerated on this Message Board, and they will be deleted immediately. Think before you write. Sometimes what's meant to be said isn't reflected properly in the words used. Adding a smilie may help, but not always. Keep this is mind before you take offense at another members' post, and if you post something and it doesn't look quite right, please go back and edit it. Keep your words soft and sweet.
- Personal attacks in public posts are not acceptable. This includes "baiting" or "flaming". You are entitled to your opinion, so long as that opinion does not reflect poorly on another member. Also, posting of PM’s received from another member is not allowed. Any such posts will be deleted. Repeated offenses or ignoring of warnings will result in being banned from the message board.
- If you participate in harassing, ridiculing, or otherwise insulting/personally attacking members of the American Girl Fan Message Board elsewhere, you will no longer be welcome here.
- Do not talk about religion or politics on threads or in posts. Talk about these things can lead to debates and hurt feelings, which we don't want here.
- Discussing or referencing banned members is not permitted. If a member has been banned, there is a reason for it and whether you agree or not is of no consequence to the administrator. American Girl Fan is a privately owned website and we reserve the right to allow or deny members as we see fit, without explanation.
- Private communications between the administrator, moderators, or forum members are not to be made public on these forums or any other place.
- Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to age, gender, race, and color. Final decision of what is considered to be discriminatory is up to the admin/moderators and is not open for discussion.
- "Ranting" is prohibited. A rant is a post which is filled with angry, non-constructive comments. Talking about our love for American Girl is essential to building a fun American Girl Fan community, but rants are disruptive and lead to fights. Please post your thoughts in a concise, clear manner and avoid rambling.
- Do not host contests here on the message board. Feel free to announce a contest or giveaway you are doing on your blog, at the Bulletin Board.
- Do not copy written words from other websites or message boards without their permission. There are a lot of copyright issues out there, and we don't want this message board to get into trouble.
- You remain responsible for the content of your messages no matter what someone else may have done. Keep this in mind when posting, since it is you and no one else that will suffer the punishment for anything that breaks the rules or guidelines.
- Always be aware of Internet safety. Do Not share your full name, age, email, address, phone number, or any other private information about yourself either on the forums or in Private Messages. Once you do you "can't take it back" so be careful not to.
If you have an issue with someone on the board or see a violation of the rules, please Private Message the administrator Liz, or site moderator Quinlyn. All complaints will be taken seriously and will be investigated with appropriate action taken. Do not post about this publicly as these are private issues. All public posts regarding these issues will be deleted. This message board is not affiliated with or endorsed by American Girl, Mattel, or Pleasant Company. We are just a fan site, where fans of the American Girl products can talk together about American Girl.
